Day #19 – Oliebollen Resistance

Upon venturing through Dam Square on Saturday afternoon to run some errands before the avond, it was impossible to miss the giant carnival which had taken over the whole square pitched in front of the royal palace. Hundreds of people were wandering around almost starry eyed at the bright lights, carnival games packed with stuffed toy prizes and of course the good stands!

It was certainly hard to resist the Dutch Bakery stall, film of delicious waffles, pancakes and oliebollen – a traditional Dutch donut like treat filled with raisins and dusted with icing sugar which is popular around Christmas and New year time.

I think I better do a few more long runs before treating myself to one of these tasty treats!
